TRACMASS
A Lagrangian trajectory code for oceanic and
atmospheric general circulation models

TRACMASS computes particle trajectories from given velocity fields from both atmospheric and oceanic circulation models
TRACMASS integrates trajectories off-line, i.e. after the GCM has been integrated and the velocity fields have been stored. This makes it possible to calculate many more trajectories than would be possible on-line (simultaneously as the the GCM is integrated)
TRACMASS is set up to run with velocities integrated with models such as NEMO, ORCA, ROMS, POM, MICOM, IFS-ECMWF and EC-Earth
TRACMASS is based on Vries and Döös (2011) with the most recent version described in Döös et al. (2011)
TRACMASS makes it possible to estimate water paths, Lagrangian stream functions (barotropic and overturning), exchange times, particle sedimentation, etc
TRACMASS is written in FORTRAN 90 with modules and runs on UNIX platforms such as MAC OS X and Linux
